Screwdrivers are the one tool designed to loosen and tighten a variety of screws. Screwdrivers come in many types of tips and sizes to accommodate the dozens of different types of screws.

Top quality handles make a big difference and are generally made from plastic with a rubber coating to give a non-slip surface. When you do select your next screwdriver set, ensure the materials are always made from heat resistant and chemical resistant materials so they don't get damaged from normal use in an automotive workshop.

Ratcheting Types of screwdrivers

Common sets can include up to twenty different shafts in a small toolbox or in combo with other hand tools.

* Look for a good quality handle and tip.
* Magnitised shafts can be handy to locate screws with touching them.
* Look for shafts that run right through.
* Have a wide variety of tip to tackle every job.
* Ensure the shaft is fixed to the handle with big flares, to avoid the handle slipping.
Also check the screwdriver set you may be buying for how it is stored. Try and get a set in a good quality box that will not age too much with sunlight and chemicals.
